For last and this week for writing we needed to write a poem. We were given this task last week but we are showing it this week so I did all my work during the long weekend. The poem we needed to write was about Ngai Tahu and something related to them so I wrote about the Aveon river in Christchurch. I also used Line breaks and a simile in my poem. So anyways here is my poem.
I am a student at St Francis of Assisi Catholic School. I am in Year 7 and my teacher is Miss Parker. This is a place where I will be able to share my learning with you. Please note....some work won't be edited - just my first drafts, so there may be some surface errors. I would love your feedback, comments, thoughts and ideas.

Maths W9
This week for maths we made Maori patterns using: Reflection, Rotation, Translation and Enlargement. If you don't know what these are then I'll explain so Reflection is when you mirror the shape, Rotation is when you rotate the shape, Translation is when you move the shape up or down or side to side and Enlargement is when you make the shape bigger. So anyways here are my examples and finished work.
Reading W9
This week for reading we had options for our create task. The one that I did was a Venn Diagram about the Canterbury Museum and the Leaning Tower of Pisa. But before I did that I read two texts about them witch gave me some info to work with. I put down 4 similarity's and 4 different's on both of them. So here is my finished work.
Have you ever made a Venn Diagram before and if you have what was it about?

Reading W 7/8
For reading this and last week we researched the Christchurch earthquake rebuild last week and this week we designed a building for Christchurch. First we needed to read 2 articles about Christchurch and take some notes. Then this week we designed a building for Christchurch and I made a Greenhouse and I was not the only person that thought of making one. Anyways here is my Christchurch Greenhouse.
What place do you think Christchurch needs? Bye.
My Statistical investigation
This week for maths we are doing a statistical investigation by colliding data on something. I did the population of NZ birds in the last five years and it has grown a lot. So after we got our data we put it all on a slide and we made three statements on our data. Anyways here is my statistical investigation slide about the population of NZ birds in the last five years.
Have you ever done a statistical investigation on anything? Bye.

Rescue Mission Onawe Pa
This week for math's we used Coordinates on a map to measure distance. When I came to the workshop we only got half way though the workshop so mostly everyone there probably didn't know what to do. So I went to another math workshop and I managed to finish my work. Here is my work with a description of Coordinates.
Step 1: Locate Kaipoi Pa, St Francis of Assisi School in Otautahi and Onawe Pa.
63.8 km
Coordinates are measurements of area. So let's say your given 63,60 so first you will want to measure from the bottom to the right. Then measure from the bottom left to the top left. Then find 63 on the bottom then find 60 on the side then look were the two meet and there you go.
Do you know how to use coordinates?

Reading, Writing and Math's W6 T1 Pa week
This week at our school is Pa week so this week we are going to be learning lots about Pa's. If you don't know what a Pa is a Pa is a Maori village protected by a wall and most of them where built on hills. So this week for reading we needed to make a modern Pa ad if one was for sale. I put a lot of time into my Pa so here it is. Sorry that it's a bit blurry.
