1. School children in Australia and across the world are having school strikes to make people aware of climate change.
2. Australia's Government want to build a huge coal mine called Adani. The school students are fighting for this not to happen.
3. They are striking every Friday and are sacrificing their education to help people be aware of climate change and show that it is a threat to our planet.
This year we gave some sustainable Christmas presents to our families. We made beeswax sandwich wraps and gave metal reusable straws too.
Here is a picture of them:
What do you do that helps prevent climate change?

ReplyDeleteYou have created an awesome post here about three things you have learnt from the School Strike for Climate website!
I knew that school children in Australia and across the world were having school strikes to make people aware of climate change, but I didn’t know that they were striking every Friday, or that it was cutting into their education time! Have you ever been apart of a strike for climate change? If so, when?
I really like how you have included an image of the beeswax sandwich wraps and reusable metal straws you gave to your family for Christmas! This was such a fantastic idea, so ka pai to your family for being so environmentally friendly with your gifts this year.
You mentioned that you made these beeswax wraps. How did you do this?
To help prevent climate change, I went three months without using any plastic. It was an extremely hard task to begin with, but the longer I stuck with it, the easier it became.
There are so many items in our world that either use plastic when they don’t need any at all, or use way too much plastic in their packaging. I believe that if everyone changes one small thing about the way they use plastic, the world would be in a much better position.
