Week 2: Everyday Heroes

To help the people of Australia that have been effected by the fires we could:

1. Send them water to douse the flames.

2. Send care packages to the school effected by the fires. We could send food, water, pencils, books and stickers.

3. Send NZ fireman to Australia to help and give the Aussie firemen a rest.

4. Have a nationwide mufti day to raise money to send to the animal hospitals to help look after the koalas.

5. Send builders over when the fores are out to help people rebuild their houses.

This a photo of me and Phoebe holding a koala in a zoo in Australia a few years ago. I feel very sad about them being caught in the fires.

Would you take part in any of these ideas?

  1. Kia ora William,
The bushfires in Australia are terrible, did you see the smoke that blew over from Australia? We were in Timaru and the sky looked really spooky with the smoke. One of my friends in Australia has a job of spending all day in a really tall tower spotting any fires in his area, he even does it on Christmas Day.
Your ideas are really cool, I especially like the idea of sending over care packages over to them.
I would definitely do a mufti day to raise money for Australia.
    Keep up the great work,
    Nga mihi,
    Mark

  2. Kia ora William, this is Kieryn from the Summer Learning Journey.
Well done for participating in the Summer Learning Journey and creating this blog post about the different ways we could help the people in Australia who have been affected by the fires.
You have a great list of ideas here, and it looks as though you have really thought of all the different ways you could help.
Although all of your suggestions are amazing, I particularly like your second idea of sending care packages to the schools affected by the fires.
Care packages are perfect in times like these, and would be greatly appreciated by anyone who received one. You could also even organise to send care packages to families who have been affected as well!
How would you go about organising sending care packages?
I also quite liked your fourth idea of holding a mufti-day to raise money for the injured koalas. So many wildlife have lost their homes due to this disaster, so I can only imagine how much a donation from an event such as a mufti-day would help.
The picture of you holding a koala at the bottom was a great addition to this blog post, and you look like you were having so much fun at the zoo!
What was your favourite animal there and why?
    Nga mihi
